The Committee

This committee is part of the government programme and was created by the law of 21 June 2016 and the grand-ducal regulation of 5 July 2016. Its tasks are specified in the same law.

This law provides that the committee perpetuates the memory of the events of the Second World War; that it approaches the authorities in the interest of resistance fighters, those who were forcibly conscripted, victims of the Holocaust and victims of the Second World War in general, but also that its members participate in the official commemoration of the Second World War.

Moreover, the committee formulates recommendations regarding the organisation of the commemoration of the Second World War and the identification and enhancement of memorial sites. It also undertakes public awareness campaigns, particularly for young people, in connection with the memory of the Second World War.
